1. Mineral Wealth of Sonbhadra

Granite: Granite is a felsic intrusive igneous rock that is granular and phaneritic in texture. Granite is composed mainly of quartz and feldspar with minor amounts of mica, amphiboles, and other minerals. Depending on its mineralogy, granite can be of a red, pink, gray, or white color with dark mineral grains visible throughout the rock.

Morrum: Morrum is a minor mineral that is derived from the weathering and disintegration of granitic rocks. Another type of morrum called ‘Red Morrum’ are the laterite soils found on the elevated ground comprising old weathering surfaces. These are used for spreading on kuchha roads.

Sandstone: Sandstone is a sedimentary rock composed of sand-size grains of mineral, rock, or organic material. Sandstone may be any color due to the presence of impurities within the minerals, but most commonly they occur in tan, brown, yellow, red, grey, pink, white, and black colour. Sandstones are extensively quarried for building stone and ballast.
